Project Description:
Christie Constructors, Inc., a company that has a reputation for successfully responding to emergency projects and other difficult work, handled the steel erection for the reconstruction of the damaged portion of the MacArthur Maze. Christie Constructors evaluated steel details, girder stability, sequencing, and erection methods and successfully erected 12 girders as soon as they were delivered to complete this critical erection activity on schedule. The 10-ton girders measured up to 86 feet long. Christie Constructors was a subcontractor to C. C. Myers, Inc. The project was part of the overall reconstruction of a section of I-580 at the MacArthur Maze in Alameda County that collapsed onto the roadway below as the result of a tanker truck fire.
